Results from the winter’s competitions are arriving now with Paul Batten and Di
Johnson, Okehampton Smallbore Rifle Club’s top prone rifle shooters, both having
shot brilliantly all season in the North Devon League.
Paul and Di are in top Division 1 of the North Devon Individual League and Paul is
delighted to win the overall competition, improving both his 3rd place of last year and
also his average, which now stands at 98.94 after 18 rounds – just a shade under the
99 which has been his target this season. And Di is thrilled to win the Ladies overall
competition for the first time, also improving on her 2nd place last year. Di has had
her best season ever, increasing her average up to 97.89 from 96.05 last year. And in
the North Devon League Veteran’s section, Paul won this too, having been 3rd last
year … and Di was 2nd! A great result for them both and for the Club!
In the North Devon League for Teams, Okehampton Club’s A Team of Paul Batten,
Di Johnson, Lawrence Bennie and Martin Elliott had the great result of being 2nd in
the top Division 1 after the 18 rounds. In Division 2, Okehampton B Team of
Grahem Spier, Stuart Bennie, Amanda Elliott and Steve Cook were 2nd – a result they
are all really pleased with too; the C Team of Ivan Trickey, Stuart Batley, Peter
Paterson and Adrian Hasell took 5th place. In Division 3, the D Team of Paul Snell,
Terry Southcott, Peter Blake and Chris Short were 3rd.
And finally, a brilliant result in the Devon Winter League for the Okehampton C
Team who won their Division 4. Consisting of Ivan Trickey, Chris Short, Peter
Paterson, Paul Snell, Adrian Hasell and Roger Bird the team shot consistently well all
season, winning 13 of the 18 rounds; they are looking forward to collecting their
Trophy at the forthcoming County Dinner!
